Surprise – ADA Has Changed the Rules Again!

Learn about the new ADA laws and what they mean for your business.

In what seems to be a favorite pastime of government agencies around the world, the Department of Justice has joined in and changed the rules of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) game once again.

But this time, dear readers, they have taken pity on you, the small business managers and owners who are already struggling to sort through the avalanche of legalese that falls on you in the form of state, local and federal rules.

They have created, or rather updated a handy little guide to ADA rules made especially for small businesses.  The Primer, which can be downloaded from the ADA website,  gives concrete examples small businesses will be able to apply.  From problems with dressing rooms (solution: allow guests to take a “helper” in with them) to what you may and may not ask that guest with a service dog (no, you cannot ask for proof of the disability), the guide answers questions, clarifies rules and offers practical answers that will allow businesses to comply with the new and existing ADA rules without breaking the bank.

Not sure if your business is covered under ADA rules?  Check out our very own handy-dandy 5 Fast Facts article to see if all of this applies to your business.
