TrackSmart Roadmap for 2013

All the cool kids are doing it!

It seems “Roadmap” posts and articles are all the rage with cloud-based solutions, these days, and we’d really like to join the fun.

Here are a couple of caveats:

  1. We roll with the punches.  For example, Member feedback may tell us we need to prioritize an unplanned project ahead of one on the plan…or we may delay a project into next year if we can’t deliver the quality needed.
  2. These are big picture initiatives, details and other smaller projects will come to light as we’re ready to release new features and functionality.

So, on with the show…

  1. Buh-bye Silverlight.  Too many folks have either missed out on TrackSmart completely or bent over backwards to make their browser settings compatible with this technology. Over the course of this year, you can expect to see less of the “Loading” messages until they’re gone completely.
  2. Report Filters and CSV Export. Premium members will soon be able to “Filter by Department” when running reports. Plus, most reports will be available in a CSV export, so you can play with or sort the data how you’d like.
  3. Employee Records-palooza. Employee records and attendance tracking go hand-in-hand. Look forward to expanded Employee Profiles and TrackSmart developing into a more complete paperless Employee Recordkeeping solution.
  4. More Employee Self-Service. Don’t you love it when you can pass on administrative work to your employees? More of that is on the way… plus that Employee Calendar our members have been requesting, in the Community.
  5. Basic Accruals. It’s a lot more complicated than you think, but we ain’t skeered! We know it’s important to our members and we’re committed to making it happen, this year.

Please let us know what you think in the community!

Labor Law Alert: Department of Labor issues expansions to FMLA protections

On February 5, the U.S. Department of Labor issued a final rule that expands employee rights under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

The expanded rule provides families of eligible veterans with the same job-protected FMLA leave currently available to families of military service members and enables more military families to take leave for activities that arise when a service member is deployed. It also modifies existing rules so that airline personnel and flight crews are better able to make use of the FMLA’s protections.

The new rule takes effect on March 8, 2013, and affects employers with 50 or more employees and all public sector employers. As a result of the revisions, employers are required to update their mandatory labor law postings with the new FMLA poster by March 8, 2013.

To avoid any risk of fines, we recommend you order an updated poster set from HRdirect. Order your posters here.

New enhancements finally here!

A couple months ago, we posted about our final enhancements for 2012. However, we changed our mind and decided they should be first enhancements of 2013! (Okay, we hit a few speed bumps along the way that delayed getting them to you).

These improvements are a direct result of feedback from the member community, so our Community Commander in Chief will walk you through them in a brief video tour.

Heeeeeeere’s Ryan! See what’s new in this quick video

The cheat sheet:

1. New option to track time off by days instead of hours

2. New (and improved) codes
- Certification Expired event code
- Training absence code
- Conference absence code
- In Late absence code replaces Tardy absence code

3. Time Sheet feature enhancements
- Time Sheets now display deducted time off on days where absences appeared (for Admins and Supervisors only)
- Two new Time Sheet reports have been added to assist Admins and Supervisors with scheduling and payroll

4. Scheduler Report now lets you see “pending” time off requests on the schedule so you have a more complete view before approving other employee requests for time off on the same day

New Prices Take Effect January 1, 2013

Dear Member,

When you signed up for TrackSmart, we promised to let you know in advance of any changes to our recurring fees or billing terms. (See our Terms Of Use for details.) Well, that time has come … As of January 1, 2013, our Premium Plan rates will increase according to the rates below. This change will not affect your current billing term, but the new rate will apply on your next renewal date.

I know, I know. We all hate price increases. But just as with gas and milk and other necessities, the cost of providing the best online attendance tracking tool increases over time. We’ve researched our competition, and we are confident that our new rates still provide the best value for your business.

As a reminder, here are some of the new Premium Plan features we introduced in the past year, as a direct result of feedback from our members:

•Online employee time sheets
•Supervisor approvals (for time-off requests and time sheets)
•Absence Detail & Time-Off Scheduler Reports for employees and supervisors
•Default hours for absence entries
•Ability for employees to change passwords
•Ability to update billing credit card information online

In 2013, you can look forward to more great features, along with our continued commitment to enhancing TrackSmart based on input from our members. These are just a few of the upcoming new Premium Plan features that will go live in the next month or so:
•New absence and event codes
•Option to track by days or hours
•Time sheet enhancements to help support payroll tasks

Premium Plan Rates as of 1/1/2013
CoreTrack: $14.95 monthly, $129 annually
FlexTrack: $24.95 monthly, $229 annually
PowerTrack: $34.95 monthly $329 annually
PowerTrack Plus: $44.95 monthly, $429 annually

Thank you for being a loyal TrackSmart member. If you have any questions about your account, please email us at memberservices@tracksmart.com.

Happy tracking,
